Foundation Woes – Can It Be A Match Made In Heaven?

All about Skincare.

Finding the right foundation for your skin tone can be a daunting task. With so many different brands, shades, and formulas available, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed. However, choosing the correct foundation is crucial in achieving a flawless, natural-looking finish. In this blog, we’ll go through some helpful tips and tricks to help you find the perfect foundation for your skin tone.

Here's How...

1) Know your skin tone and undertone

Skin tones can be broadly categorized as fair, light, medium, tan, and deep.Within these categories, there are different undertones such as cool, warm, or neutral.Undertones are the colours that come through and add an overall hue to your skin.It has nothing to do with the skin colour. Your skin colour may change with the seasons or if you had a fake tan. THE UNDERTONE REMAINS THE SAME.

WARM UNDER TONES – Peachy, yellow or golden glow to the skin

COOL UNDER TONES – Hints of pinks, reds and blue

NEUTRAL UNDERTONES – Have a balance between both warm and cool undertones

How to test for your undertones?

Vein Test

Under natural light , if your veins appear blue ot purplish , you have cool skin tone.

If your veins appear green or greenish, then you have warm undertone.

If you can’t tell , then most likely you have a neutral undertone.

Gold/Silver Test

If silver complements you, you have cool undertones and if gold complements you than you have warm undertones. If you look good in both than you bhave neutral undertones.

2) Know your skin type

The main skin types are normal, oily, dry or combination. If you have oily skin, try a mattifying foundation that can control the excess oil production.
If you have dry skin, then use a foundation that adds hydration. It could be a dewy or satin finish. If you have a combination skin then, a satin or a satin-matte foundation will be good.b They add some shine but do not make you look like a greaseball.

3) The Coverage

Decide on the coverage required. Is it going to be a light, medium or full.

Light Coverage
Light coverage foundation is perfect for those who want a natural, barely-there look. This type of foundation is ideal for those who have relatively clear skin and don’t need a lot of coverage.
Light coverage foundations typically come in the form of tinted moisturizers or BB creams, which provide a subtle wash of color that evens out the skin tone and adds a bit of radiance.

Medium Coverage

Medium coverage foundation is the most versatile option and is perfect for those who want to cover minor blemishes and imperfections while still maintaining a natural look. This type of foundation is great for everyday wear and can be built up in areas where you need a little extra coverage. Medium coverage foundations usually have a thicker consistency than light coverage foundations and often come in a range of finishes, from matte to dewy.

Full Coverage

Full coverage foundation is ideal for those who want to cover severe blemishes or scars, or for those who want a more dramatic look. This type of foundation provides complete coverage and can help even out skin tone, cover acne scars, and provide a flawless finish. Full coverage foundation usually has a thicker consistency than light or medium coverage foundations and is often available in a matte finish. It’s important to remember that full coverage foundation can be heavier and may feel uncomfortable on the skin if you’re not used to wearing it.

4) How do I find a fit?

The best way is to swatch your foundation is along your jawline and spread it towards your neck. The colour should match your cheeks and your neck. Do wait 5 to 10 minutes to check whether the foundation oxidizes, that is, it turns slightly orange due to the heat from your skin.

Remember matches made in HEAVEN takes time, so BE PATIENT!!!

What's in Trend?

Full coverage foundations have always been all the rage for many years but there seems to be a shift in trend towards ” a no makeup” makeup look which has been popularised by many social influencers. The key to this look is about achieving a natural, effortless look that makes it appear as if you are not wearing makeup at all. This goal is to enhance your natural features while still looking polished and put together.

To achieve the “no makeup” makeup look, there are several steps involved. First, you want to start with a clean and moisturized face. Then, you can apply a light coverage foundation or tinted moisturizer to even out your skin tone. The key is to use a light hand and blend everything well, so it looks like your natural skin.

Next, you can add a touch of color to your cheeks with a cream blush or bronzer. The key is to use a natural-looking shade that complements your skin tone. You can also apply a little bit of highlighter to the high points of your face, such as your cheekbones, brow bones, and the tip of your nose, to add some dimension and glow.

For the eyes, you can use a neutral eyeshadow palette to add some definition to your lids. You can also apply a little bit of mascara to your lashes to make them stand out. The goal is to keep everything looking natural, so it’s best to stick with earthy tones and avoid anything too bold or dramatic.

Finally, you can finish the look with a lip balm or tinted lip gloss to add some color and hydration to your lips. The goal is to keep the lips looking natural and effortless.

The “no makeup” makeup look is all about enhancing your natural features and achieving a fresh-faced, glowing look. It’s a great option for everyday wear or for those who want a more natural look. It’s important to note that this look can take some practice to perfect, but with the right tools and techniques, anyone can achieve a beautiful “no makeup” makeup look
